While migrant integration and gender equality are widely utilized concepts in the Norwegian context, meaning-making around these concepts is not typically explored in conjunction with one another. Based on an analysis of academic literature, this study explores the relations and frictions between migrant integration and gender equality discourses in Norway. Identified relations between these discourses include the focus on social equality, the labormarket as a key site, often dichotomous and hierarchical understandings of categories, and exclusionary inclusion and racialized boundary making. Home and family life as key sites for discursive contestations and meaning-making and integration into a gender unequal labor market are identified as frictions. I conclude by framing these questions within an equality/diversity dilemma that tends to (re)surface in questions of and debates on migrant integration and gender equality in Norway, and call for alternative ways of imagining the equality/diversity dilemma.
