The UN Human Rights Council has convened a special session and adopted Resolution S-35/1 on the deteriorating situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially with respect to women and children. The Council has established the Independent International Fact Finding Mission on Iran, following the death in custody of Jina Mahsa Amini, a young woman arrested for allegedly violating the country’s mandatory hijab laws.
