Special Issue on Affect and Emotions
Tidsskrift for kjønnsforskning (Journal of Gender Research) invites scholars to submit contributions to a special issue dedicated to affect and emotions in gender research. The issue will be published in December 2027.
Over the past few decades, affect and emotions have gained a central place in the social sciences and humanities, often referred to as the affective turn. Within gender research, this has particularly involved examining how gender perspectives draw attention to embodied experiences and emotional relations, thereby opening new analytical pathways for exploring questions of power, inequality, and subjectivity.
This special issue welcomes contributions that explore affect and emotions as analytical entry points to gender, sexuality, the body, identity, politics, culture, and social differences. We are especially interested in articles that explore how affect and emotions both shape and are shaped by cultural, social, political, and material contexts. We also invite contributions that examine the ontological and epistemological implications of such perspectives. Articles that engage with the breadth of the affective turn, or that explore intersections with other disciplines and other “turns,” are likewise welcome. We encourage both empirical and theoretical contributions.
Articles may be written in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, or English.
Submission of Abstracts
We invite abstracts of 200–300 words that clearly present the research question, theoretical framework, material/methodology, and preliminary argument.
