Research group for Feminist and Decolonial Philosophies (FDP): Dilek Huseyinzadegan – “Race, Gender, and Class in Kant's Moral and Political Philosophy”

It is still unclear what we ought to do with the ugly (racist, sexist, classist) parts of Kant's moral and political philosophy. In this talk I will discuss if we should discard them and solely focus on the a priori ideals, what is lost and what is gained by this approach, and ask if Kant or Kantianism can ever be an effective tool in dismantling intersectional oppressions. Ann Phoenix is a Professor of Psychosocial Studies at the Institute of Education, University College London. Her research focuses on the ways in which psychological experiences and social processes are linked and intersectional. This talk is organized by NORPA, a network of researchers doing research on parenting in Nordic welfare states, in collaboration with HEMIL-center (Universitetet i Bergen) and ALREK helseklynge.
